Too Faced cosmetics is a known name in the makeup game and they are expanding the line for the holiday season. The company is cruelty-free and even has some vegan products to offer customers. I personally am a fan of the brand and I love their liquid lipsticks and BB cream.
I have seen many raving reviews on the hangover primer and I even have it on my list to buy when I run out of my current makeup primer. It seems to be a great buy for any type of skin.
Cure your next beauty hangover with Hangover, a revolutionary makeup primer that’s infused with coconut water, a probiotic-based ingredient, and skin revivers which work together to boost skin’s radiance, promote elasticity, and help hydrate while locking down makeup for fresher, longer, and more flawless wear. Too Faced harnessed the science of hydration to create a creamy, penetrating primer that acts like an energy drink for the skin by replenishing moisture levels. It can be worn alone for a dewy, healthy looking finish, or under bronzers, foundations, and powders to create the perfect canvas.
The newest product to this line will be the Hangover three-in-one Replenishing Primer and Setting Spray, and it will go hand in hand with the primer. The release date and price is still unknown but it is already garnering a lot of hype from excited makeup lovers.
The spray is targeted to actually help with hangovers, but in the sense of skin as seen in the description of the primer above. The product is being strategically released during the holiday season because it is the time where women are going to celebrate the holidays and will be adorning a lot of makeup and drinking at parties. The cold weather will also aid in the drying out of skin. The product contains ingredients such as coconut water and a probiotic. These two ingredients will add moisture and refurbish skin.
In an interview with refinery29.com, Dr. Joshua Zeichner, a dermatologist and director of cosmetic and clinical research at Mount Sinai Hospital says that skin can get hung over.
“Combining cold, dry winter weather with lack of sleep and heavy drinking can lead to an impaired skin barrier, with dryness, scaling, and inflammation — and the skin may look dull, scaly, and itch. While the skin normally is able to repair itself, lack of sleep along with alcohol leads to dehydration.”
It will be used to prime, set makeup or to just replenish skin with a satisfying mist.

Kat Von D is a known name in the makeup game, her makeup is advertised as completely covering up tattoos, and it is known for its vibrant pigment. This comes in handy for someone who has tattoos that is going for a job interview or even a bride. Before she stepped into the makeup game, she was a tattoo artist with a TV show on TLC. She then launched her makeup line and made a known name for herself filling up the Sephora shelves and selling out her popular products.
Her makeup line is already cruelty-free but she is now making the brand transition to vegan. She is an active member in the fight for animal rights and hopes that her brands transition will bring awareness to the lack of rights.
In documenting her life she has also documented her transition to veganism which she made five years ago, and has become recognized for her efforts. Kat Von D recently won the Compassion in Action award from the animal advocacy non-profit Farm Sanctuary. She was recognized for her plight to end animal cruelty.
“There is no point in developing anything at the cost of exploiting and abusing animals. Not only is it important for me to create a 100 percent cruelty-free brand, but also send out a very clear message to both consumers and companies out there: testing on animals in the name of beauty is cruel and unnecessary.”
-Kat Von D in an interview with Cosmopolitan
Here is a list of vegan products that Kat Von D already carries. She has an extensive list and soon her whole line will be vegan. This is a bold transition and I hope that it will inspire other makeup brands to do the same.
I applaud her for this move in the makeup realm, where it is easy to just think about potential buyers and not about how animals could get hurt in the process. She already has a successful makeup business and she’s using her platform to give a voice to animals.
I have not personally tried her makeup brand but I do plan on it in the future. What are your thoughts on it? And what product suggestions do you guys have from her brand?
LUSH hauls were my first obsession to watch on YouTube in middle school. Me and my friends would beg my mom to drive me to LUSH at our local mall and I would spend all of my allowance on pampering myself with their cruelty free and vegetarian body products. I was even offered a job after explaining to my mom the extensive list of products that they carried (pat on the back). I have since outgrown my obsession but every now and then the heavenly smell invites me into the store and somehow I leave with a bag of products.
This week a vegan and cruelty-free bath bomb Great Bear from LUSH hand-made cosmetics was stocked in stores. This bath bomb donates 100 percent of the proceeds to help stop bears from being hunted and killed in America
“With a perfume of cypress, rosewood and oakmoss, this calming fizzer will transport you to the heart of the woods. Adorning this bath bomb is a gorgeous stylized bear, the result of a collaboration with First Nations artist Jeff Robinson. By purchasing this bath bomb, you’re helping to protect bears from being hunted and killed for sport: 100% of the sales of this bath bomb (minus taxes) will go to our Grizzly Grants fund to support organizations working to protect bears in North America.”LUSH fresh hand-made cosmetics
My Beauty Bunny recently wrote a review on this bath bomb. It retails for $6.95 .
The design of the bath bomb is made by the First Nations artist Jeff Robinson which has a Native American tribal craved bear.
LUSH hand-made cosmetics is bringing awareness to trophy hunting and is making an effort to help stop the horrible aspect of torturing and murder of animals for fun.

BECCA quickly became the it name in the makeup industry. Who could forget the champagne pop highlighter that was sold out everywhere, and made highlights on ‘fleek’. I have even had it on my to buy list.
Cruelty Free Kitty just announced that BECCA has been brought by Estée Lauder, another makeup company. BECCA has been a cruelty-free brand, but Estée Lauder is not. They also sell in China who has a law for makeup, it must be animal tested before it can be sold. It is not known whether or not BECCA will remain cruelty-free. Estée Lauder wants to expand the brand globally, and China is a huge marketplace for cosmetics. Here is a more in-depth look at China’s animal testing laws.
Estée Lauder brought Smashbox in 2010, another makeup company, and they too were cruelty free. After they were inducted, they lost their status as cruelty-free as the brand was being sold in China.
Roogirl.com stated 10 reasons why you should use cruelty free cosmetics here.
“Tests that use animals to assess the safety of cosmetics and personal care products—such as lipstick, mascara, shampoo, and cologne—are still extremely common in the United States. It’s estimated that thousands of mice, guinea pigs, rats, and rabbits suffer and die in these tests every year in the U.S. alone. Each ingredient in a cosmetic or personal care product that needs to be tested can be run through the tests listed below. Pain relief is rarely provided and the animals used are always killed at the end of each test,” The Humane Society of The United States.
The Humane Society of The United States also has a chart of what kind of animals are being tested on, and what specific use they are tested for here.
When I personally learned that animals were being tested not only for cosmetics, but also house hold products I was appalled. What really hit home for me was a picture of cats that I saw being tortured through animal testing. I have two cats at home and tears immediately sprung to my eyes, I love my cats and I would never want any harm to come to them. If their claws get stuck on a string, I panic that they have somehow hurt themselves. In 2016 there is no need for animals to be tested on and why would humans want to use a product that needs to be tested on animals skins to ensure the safety of it?

Chanel is a top tier luxury brand. It comes after Hermes and before Louis Vuitton. It was to my absolute delight to find out they had their own makeup brand a few years ago. I have over the past three years developed a small collection of their pricy products.
As it is a luxury brand… the makeup is quite expensive. I have paid $45 for a lip balm and I am not afraid to say it. But I tell you that the lip balm is moisture heaven in a bottle. It was well worth the money and I am sad to say that I am running out of the balm. A tear will be shed for my bank account when I hand the consultant at the Chanel counter my card to repurchase it.
The “Collection Libre, Synthetic De Chanel” is the 2016 Holiday Makeup Collection. The Beauty Lookbook did a in depth review on five pieces from the collection, and was only happy with four. I thought that I would take a look.
It is described on the Chanel website as, “Inspired by the material urban world, Chanel Global Creative Makeup and Colour Designer Lucia Pica translates glass, metal and rubber into a palette of industrial shades contrasted with bright tones. The result: A vibrant, modern Holiday 2016 collection with a hypnotic edge.”
The Architectonic eyeshade palette $80
It features five different limited edition neutral winter eyeshadows that are perfect everyday looks and even a holiday smokey eye.
The Calligraphie De Chanel long wear intense cream eyeliner $35
The Joues Contraste Powder Blush $45
This blush is a bright bubble gum pink that will add to the natural flush winter first gives off.
Rouge Double Intensite Ultra Wear Lip Colour in Curious Orange $35
Who doesn’t love a red lip for the holidays, this color looks like it will compliment all shades, as do the lipsticks below.
Rouge Allure Gloss in supernude and supercoral $37
The supernude is the one item that intrigues me the most. It looks like it is the perfect nude color and it would be a great for winter. This is a color that can be dressed up or down and can be worn year long. This item is on my makeup buy list and I hope to purchase it soon to replace another nude gloss that I have from Chanel. It seems to be the perfect gloss to keep in the car or purse.
This year I have really been feeling nude colors and again the Velvet nail colour looks to be another purchase that I might have to make. The grey color is intriguing as well and looks to be the perfect color to wear to family holiday meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas. The name is liquid mirror a beautiful match for the beautiful color. It looks to be an opaque and rich grey that would catch the light, and be a conversation starter. It will have you looking better than your family members at the table.
Out of the collection what intrigues you the most?
Were you disappointed by this holiday collection?
